Join to apply for the Junior Software Developer role at BullionByPost.

Jewellery Quarter Bullion are seeking a Junior Software Developer to bolster our well-established development team as we continue to improve our systems and expand our reach internationally.

You will report to the Software Development Manager and work closely with other team members to develop, review, and maintain functionality across our various bespoke websites and APIs. This role will provide you with the opportunity to learn new skills, hone your existing ones, and will open the gates to an interesting and rewarding career.

Please note this is a remote-first role but you are required to live and work within the UK. This role does not qualify for visa sponsorship, all applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Developing and maintaining our bespoke e-commerce websites, APIs, and libraries.
  • Working closely with other team members to produce high-quality features.
  • Working to improve your skills and sharing them with other team members.
Package Description
  • Base salary £35,000.
  • Employee bonus scheme up to 10% of your base salary.

About You

As a new developer in a remote position, you will need to be proactive in your own education. You’ll understand that there are no silly questions and that it’s better to confirm your assumptions before investing time in the wrong solution. You will value the skills and experience of the team around you and do your best to use them to your advantage in an efficient and conscientious manner. You will seek feedback from those around you and make time to reflect on your successes and failures.

Understanding that your job is to support our customers and colleagues, you will be driven to find pragmatic solutions to the business problems presented to you, utilising our technology stack to its full advantage. You will endeavour to fully comprehend the tasks you are undertaking, building relationships across the business to foster a deep understanding of the impact of your work.

Essential Requirements
  • Skills in coding a server-side programming language, and a desire to learn Python.
  • Skills in coding HTML and CSS (we use Sass).
  • Examples of your work (links to websites, code repositories, etc …).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
Nice to have
  • A relevant degree or similar qualification.
  • Exposure to a web framework like Django or Laravel.
  • Exposure to Linux / Unix.
  • An interest in investment or personal finance.
  • Foreign languages.
