Your New Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Mobile Plumber to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account based across the regions of Yorkshire & Humberside, and North East England. The role will involve travel across the region visiting various sites from HMP Lindholme in Doncaster up to HMP Durham in Durham.

The salary is competitive, with a company van (for business use only) and fuel card included in the package. Therefore, a driving licence is essential for this role.

A Mobile Plumber plays an important part of a mobile support team that will support prisons across the regions and fulfil the role of AP/RPs as required.

The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week Monday to Friday.

You will be responsible for:

  • Routine and non-routine maintenance.
  • Fault finding and identification of life expired equipment.
  • Check, repair and make good faults and life expired equipment.
  • Inspections, water sampling, and risk assessment.
  • Mains water supply repairs.
  • Minimise wastage and continually improve processes.
  • Ensure statutory works are carried out to time and that work is compliant.
  • This role may include working at height and in all weather conditions.
  • Responsibility for wearing all PPE, for own health and safety and that of others and the public.
  • Responsible for achieving own performance targets.
  • Responsible for the management and authorisation of high/low-risk maintenance activity on the FM estate using the Amey Safety Rules as the Authorised/Responsible persons (AP/RP). Training will be provided.
  • This role will also support both local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner as and where it is appropriate.
  • Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract.

What makes this role unique?

You will work across the region, becoming the AP/RP. The role of an AP/RP is to implement and manage works in accordance with the Amey Safety Rules for the respective disciplines as required by contractual, best practice, and legislative duties. Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Full driving licence is Essential
  • Experience in operating light plant
  • Ability to work alone and use initiative.
  • Good all-round project management knowledge

It is desirable that you will be qualified to NVQ level 3 in Plumbing and Heating with experience in plumbing maintenance; however, a minimum of level 2 would be required.

In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have Legionella Control (L8) and experience in a commercial environment to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
