We're Hiring: Preconstruction Manager for Sizewell C

The Sizewell C (SZC) project is a major new nuclear power station in Suffolk, transforming the UK’s energy future. If you're an experienced manager with a strong background in preconstruction activities and a passion for complex engineering projects, this could be the opportunity for you.

AsPreconstruction Managerfor theMarine and Tunnels (M+T) scope, you’ll play a key role in managing the preconstruction activities for one of the most exciting infrastructure projects in the UK. SZC will produce clean energy for generations, and this role is essential in ensuring its safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Define and manage the preconstruction work scope, aligning it with the overall Programme Execution Plan (PEP).
  • Develop and execute effective strategies for delivering the Marine and Tunnels scope, including tunnels, offshore connections, and related support works.
  • Coordinate and manage progress across various disciplines, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Engage with stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution, particularly with the L3 Designer and Client during the Target Outturn Cost (TOC) process.
  • Work closely with the Risk Leads to identify and resolve issues that may impact the project schedule or budget.
  • Lead the development of readiness reviews, handover materials, and preconstruction deliverables.
  • Apply lessons learned from previous projects to drive continuous improvement across the project.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong background in managing technically complex projects, ideally in the nuclear or other regulated sectors.
  • Experience in civil engineering, with an understanding of both site operations and preconstruction processes.
  • Proven track record in managing procurement, risk, cost control, and schedule for large-scale construction projects.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors, consultants, and teams during preconstruction and execution phases.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts and experience of managing construction contracts is a plus.
