Department Summary

Our product development team is where creativity meets technology. Our team comprises brilliant engineers, strategic product managers, innovative product designers, and dedicated product success managers, who shape the future of content production technology. We create proprietary solutions that automate content production seamlessly within a single platform, delivering hyper-relevant and high-performing content.

This is a unique opportunity to define workflows, build a world-class user experience while also maintaining a strong hands-on design capability, with the opportunity to build and lead a team of talented product designers.

What does a Lead Product Designer do at Hogarth?

The right candidate will lead the UX vision and execution of our content production products, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on design expertise. Collaborating closely with product owners, engineers, and stakeholders to create high-level design, defining overall system architecture, and granular details through prototypes, you translate product goals into intuitive and visually compelling user experiences, ensuring the UX remains at the forefront of our product development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define UX Vision: Work with product owners to establish the overarching UX vision and process for our content production products, collaborating with product management and the engineering team to understand product goals, user requirements and ways of working.
  • Design and Execute: Lead by example, actively participating in the design process, from concept ideation to high-fidelity prototypes and design specifications, translating them into functional and visually appealing user experiences.
  • User Advocacy: Champion user-centered design principles, ensuring all design decisions are grounded in user research/testing, data insights, and a deep understanding of user behaviour.
  • Innovation: Drive innovation by exploring and implementing new design technologies and methodologies, particularly within the AI content creation space, while ensuring accessibility and usability.
  • Platform Integration: Ensure seamless integration with existing design systems and component libraries.
  • Lead and Mentor: Opportunity to build and manage a high-performing team of product designers, fostering a collaborative and user-centric design culture. Provide guidance and mentorship on design execution, documentation, and best practices.

Reporting lines and key stakeholders

This role reports to the Global Head Of UX & Design. You will work closely with content production product owners, engineers, and key stakeholders like the Chief Product & AI officer.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in product design, with a track record of leading and mentoring design teams, demonstrating strong individual design execution skills.
  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies, including user journey mapping, usability testing and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1).
  • Expertise in interaction design, information architecture, and visual design, with proficiency in industry-standard design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Maintain and evolve product design system.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design rationale and advocate for user needs.
  • Experience working with agile product development processes.
  • Passion for innovation and emerging technologies, particularly in the AI space.
  • Strong organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, leading by example and mentoring junior designers.
