Are you a talented and creative photographer with a passion for storytelling through stunning visuals? The Courier, one of Scotland's leading regional news titles, is looking for a skilled and dynamic photographer to join our newsroom in Dundee.
About the Role:
As a photographer, you'll play a vital role in capturing compelling images that bring our stories to life across print and digital platforms. From breaking news and exclusive interviews to in-depth features and sport coverage, you'll be at the heart of the action, delivering high-quality photography that engages and informs our audience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Capture high-quality news, sport, and feature photography for The Courier in print and online
  • Work closely with reporters and the Audio Visual desk to enhance storytelling with strong visual content
  • Cover live events, breaking news, and long-form projects with creativity and speed
  • Edit and deliver images efficiently to meet tight deadlines
  • Collaborate with the wider AV team to support video and multimedia content when required
  • Maintain and manage photographic equipment and ensure compliance with industry standards
Requirements
What We're Looking For:
  • Proven experience as a press/news photographer or strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling ability
  • Excellent technical photography skills, including composition, lighting, and post-production
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with editorial and AV teams
  • Experience using professional camera equipment and editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom
  • Full UK driving license and flexibility to work on-location across The Courier's patch

This is a full-time, temporary position (12-month fixed-term contract covering a period of maternity leave), working 35 hours per week from our Dundee office.
