Job description

Job Title: Senior Quality Engineer

Location: Melksham, UK

Business Unit: Avon Protection

Scope of the Function

We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer in MAVS, based at HPW. Please note this vacancy is a Permanent position.

Purpose of Position

Reporting to the MAVS Value Stream Manager fulfilling operational requirements, working within the Value Stream representing Quality and Product Development, helping to improve and develop products and processes, implementing changes as necessary to advance the business to meet the ever-increasing product and service levels demanded by our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage and drive process improvement/CI activities (Kaizen).
  2. Review and audit processes and controls to identify areas for improvement, implement updates, and ensure processes are robust through Quality documentation controls (Best practice, SOP's/Control Plans etc).
  3. Assist in collating all current safety, quality, and rate issues to ensure our process and design teams reduce or eliminate risks through FMEA's/Control Plan creation and support these activities.
  4. Monitor and collate KPI metrics and OKR data and take action accordingly for CI within the value stream.
  5. Coordinate the build of pre-production parts with the planning and production teams.
  6. Carry out specific projects as requested, and actively promote, run, and be involved in Kaizens.
  7. Manage the customer experience regarding quality concerns and problem solving (CAPA).
  8. Fulfill operational requirements as set out by the Value Stream and Quality Manager.
  9. Ensure that all work undertaken complies with Health & Safety and Avon best practice.
  10. Conduct supplier audits and drive supplier improvements, process, component, and material opportunities.
  11. Support APQP/NPI projects and activities using lean manufacturing best practices.
Background and Skills
  1. Computer literate.
  2. Six sigma yellow belt or above.
  3. Trained in and proficient in disciplined problem-solving techniques.
  4. Manufacturing processes knowledge.
  5. Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
  6. CI practitioner.
  7. Quality engineer degree (desired).
  8. Conduct PPAP submissions.
  9. Ensure the change control process is utilized and managed effectively.
Required Training
  1. Min 2-3 years in a Quality Engineering or Manufacturing environment.
  2. Proven record in CI / Kaizen and Lean principles.
