Job description

Xtrac is the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of specialist transmissions. Our customers include the top motorsports racing series including Formula One, Le Mans, IndyCar and NASCAR and we also supply transmissions for the most exclusive high-performance cars in the world. We are at the forefront of a once-in-a-generation opportunity as the automotive industry transitions from internal combustion to electric and hybrid and our experienced and dedicated teams are using the latest cutting-edge technology to achieve this transition.

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for setting, operating, and running Milling Machine Centres to produce transmission components to the company quality standards. You will be required to have close attention to detail and have a good understanding of machine set up approaches. As we will be working to highly complex components with a strict GD&T adherence.

Knowledge of ISO Fanuc G codes will be required. An understanding of Macro’s and probing programming language will be advantageous.

A requirement will be to complete Quality Control Plans and other documentation to support our high-quality standard. With adherence to the health and safety policies within Xtrac, along with our PACEY (PASSIONATE – ACCOUNTABLE – COLLABORATIVE – EXTERNALLY FOCUSED – YEARNS TO LEARN) values.

In this role, you will be working in a machine shop environment that is high paced and fast moving.

Ability to operate 3/4/5 axis machines will be required.

Day to Day

We’re looking for people with either a strong machining background or who have completed an engineering apprenticeship. Sound working knowledge of engineering/manufacturing processes is required with the ability to read complex technical drawings with GD&T’s. Extensive experience within a Motorsport/Automotive/Aerospace environment is highly advantageous due to comparable quality and delivery requirements in those industries.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in setting, editing and operating vertical and horizontal CNC milling machines, along with practical tool making experience. In addition, the ability to visualise finished products and an understanding of the properties of the materials we work with (soft and hard steels, aluminium, and magnesium) is critical. Programs are made offline so great care to proving out programs is needed. Ability to communicate concerns back to the Team Leader/Manufacturing Engineer.

Shift Pattern

Days = Mon- Fri: 08:00-17:00
