Job Title: Assistant Accountant
Location: Aberdeen
Salary: £27,000 - £29,000
Contract Type: Permanent

Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Assistant Accountant to join the finance team, working within a public sector organisation in Aberdeen.

Main Duties:

1. Assist in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and management accounts
2. Support the month-end and year-end closing processes
3. Reconcile balance sheets, income statements, and other financial documents
4. Process invoices, manage accounts payable/receivable, and handle payroll tasks
5. Assist in the preparation and submission of financial reports and audits
6. Monitor and analyse financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
7. Provide support in financial planning and analysis, forecasting, and variance analysis
8. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any financial discrepancies

Person Requirements:

1. Experience in a similar accounting role is beneficial
2. Relevant qualifications in accounting, finance, or a related field are required (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
3. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
5. Good understanding of financial regulations and public sector financial management
6. Excellent organisational and time-management skills
7. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
