The purpose of the Health Care Assistant (Band 3) is to assist in the delivery of care within an agreed level of autonomy, following a programme of development through required competencies. Band 3 Health Care Assistants will be required to assist in an enhanced role to include initial patient assessment and providing basic clinical advice under the supervision of Hospital at Night Practitioners/Medical team.

To undertake relevant training in order to independently provide specialist treatment to patients including:
To update clinical documentation and electronic patient information including incident reporting in line with data protection standards.
To communicate patient condition to registered nurse.
To communicate learning from link roles to entire nursing/medical team.
To complete mandatory/essential training as needed.
