Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced PIP2 Accredited Investigator to work on a full-time contract in Carlisle, Cumbria.


The role will be situated within a Police Force, so applicants must be able to obtain national security vetting.


The role is initially a 6 month fixed-term contract, but could be extended. The role is paying £34,329 per annum.


Role Overview:

To provide support to the Force Major Investigations Team (FMIT) with investigative assistance on child-abuse cases. This will encompass a wide range of investigative activities including, but not exclusive to:

  1. Victim and witness interviewing
  2. House to house enquiries
  3. Securing and reviewing CCTV
  4. Premises searches and completion of search records
  5. Supporting suspect interviewing and intelligence interviews
  6. Assisting with file building including disclosure

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Identify, preserve and present evidence as mandated in Law and Force Procedures, identifying and filling any evidential gaps.
  2. Assist in the preparation of high-quality evidential files for submission to CPS.
  3. Assist in the investigation of criminal offences and occurrences as directed; ensuring Record Management System (RMS) and other IT applications are fully updated in accordance with force procedures.
  4. Support officers with their development where your skills and accreditation allow.
  5. Assist in the interviewing of victims and witnesses.
  6. Assist student and other constables on attachment with investigation, case file preparation and disclosure issues thus enhancing the performance of the area.

Knowledge/Experience:
  1. PIP2 Accredited (essential)
  2. Experience working within Child-Abuse (essential)
  3. Able to pass through national security vetting (essential)
  4. Tier 3/ABE Interview trained (desirable)
