ROLE: Senior Buyer / Senior Planner
LOCATION: Suffolk

We're looking for a proactive Senior Buyer / Senior Planner to take ownership of procurement, supplier management, and production planning. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a strong background in purchasing and materials control, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee procurement activities, ensuring timely placement and management of purchase orders to maintain optimal stock levels.
2. Maintain and update MRP/ERP systems, ensuring data accuracy and responding promptly to exception messages.
3. Monitor inventory levels to prevent excess stock and ensure material availability for production.
4. Manage supplier relationships, negotiating pricing and contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
5. Resolve invoice discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records for purchasing activities.
6. Track and improve supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery, and cost reduction.
7. Develop and manage daily production plans and customer service reports to support operational efficiency.
8. Collaborate with production teams to align material availability with manufacturing capacity, preventing delays.
9. Actively participate in key operational meetings, providing insights and updates on supply chain performance.
10. Coordinate engineering changes with suppliers and manufacturing teams, ensuring seamless implementation.

Skills & Experience Required:

1. Minimum of 2 years' experience in supply chain planning and purchasing.
2. At least 5 years' experience in planning and materials control, with a strong focus on customer service.
3. Hands-on experience managing ERP/MRP systems (preferably IFS).
4. Background in purchasing and planning, ideally within an industrial assembly environment, sourcing cast and fabricated metal parts.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to process improvement.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel at an intermediate level.
7. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
8. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
9. Continuous improvement mindset with a commitment to driving efficiencies.

Education & Certifications:

1. Degree or HNC in an Engineering-related discipline, or 5+ years of experience in an engineering/manufacturing purchasing/planning role.
2. Ideally working towards full membership with the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
