In the Critical Facilities Engineering Team we keep the lights on! We are responsible for maintaining the Electrical and Mechanical infrastructure across the various sites.

Role Overview:

  • Level 3 Electrical Installation / Maintenance Apprenticeship, taking the Maintenance path, NVQ, AM2s Exam
  • Study Commitment: Attend college one day a week while spending the remaining four days gaining practical experience on-site.
  • On-the-job Learning: Everything you learn in the classroom will be directly applied to your day-to-day responsibilities, helping you build your skills and confidence.
  • NVQ Portfolio: Work towards completing your Site-based Level 3 NVQ Portfolio, with hands-on support and guidance from experienced technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Assist qualified technicians with Facility/Infrastructure Maintenance, including performing preventative maintenance on key infrastructure under supervision.
  • Site Inspections & Monitoring: Conduct site inspections and monitor building and data centre alarms to ensure everything is running smoothly.
  • Documentation: Complete site logs and gather data for maintenance activities and compliance.
  • Incident Response: Support senior staff in responding to on-site incidents, with the potential to start managing basic incidents as your knowledge grows.
  • Work Requests & Installations: Help complete basic work requests, circuit installations, and contribute to ongoing infrastructure projects like lighting upgrades.

What You’ll Need:

  • To be eligible for this programme you must have achieved or have a predicted grade of GCSE 4 or above in Mathematics and English Language
  • A passion for learning and developing skills in facilities maintenance and infrastructure.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work well both as part of a team and independently.
  • Excellent communication skills and a keen interest in working with technology.
