Job Title:

Front End Developer

Reports to:

Head of Development

Department:

IT Development

Job Purpose:

Produce consistent, usable components / UIs for the Ecommerce Website and other business areas.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with Stakeholders, Customers and Business Analysts on new project and change requests
2. Design / wireframe bespoke user interfaces based on a given brief or set of requirements
3. Build consistent, reusable and scalable components for all of the business areas
4. Adhere to accessibility and SEO best practices
5. Optimise all website areas for improved page load / performance speeds
6. Mentoring more junior members of the team as required

Competencies and Skills:

1. Demonstrable experience of hand-coding HTML and CSS
2. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent
3. Demonstrable experience of JavaScript and JS libraries/frameworks (jQuery/React)
4. Knowledge of page speed/performance optimisation.
5. Knowledge of CSS pre-processors and other FE build tools
6. Knowledge of SEO and accessibility best practices.
7. Experience of setting up, monitoring and advising on the results of Multi-Variant/AB Testing
8. A good understanding of version control using Git
9. A good understanding of Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager
10. A good understanding of website cookies and data protection principles
11. Experience of conducting code reviews for team members

Desirable Skills:

1. User research – ability to analyse and understand user behaviours and requirements through observation techniques, task analysis and other feedback methodologies
2. Design consultancy – ability to influence business decisions and designs based on UX best-practice and market trends
3. Experience of working with Privacy-by-Design and other data security-related principles
4. Experience of producing mobile designs and working with mobile applications
5. Experience of working with Agile / Scrum
6. Experience of producing knowledge-share documentation and user guides

Education and Experience:

Level of formal education	Degree or equivalent
