Design Manager – Civil Engineering

Salary: £55000 - 70000 + pkg

Location: Thetford

Regions: Cambridgeshire, Suffolk

We are currently seeking a Design Manager to work for a major Civil Contractor on a multi-million pound project with a primary focus on civil highways and infrastructure projects. The role will be based on site in Bristol, reporting to a Design Leader and responsible for the design function for the project. The successful candidate's main duties and responsibilities will consist of:

1. Provide advice and guidance on the “buildability” of the design proposals to the design and construction teams on all packages.
2. Liaise with all statutory bodies/authorities as required – such as town planning, building control and services e.g. gas and water.
3. Lead the development and management of the design deliverables programme.
4. Ensure there is a clear schedule of design deliverables.
5. Lead gate reviews activities to ensure that they are timely and appropriate sign-off is achieved at each project gate.
6. Lead the co-ordination and production of design data, reports, and documentation essential to the project and contractual requirements and report progress against the design deliverables programme.
7. Ensure that learning and best practice is captured from the bid/project with the aim of sharing it across the business stream and the CSUK business.
8. Proactively contribute to the Risk and Value Management process.
