About you

Applicants must hold a PhD in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Biology or a relevant subject area, (or be close to completion) prior to taking up the appointment. The research requires experience in synthetic organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry (including but not limited to compound optimisation for in vivo proof of concept studies) and de novo drug design/development as well as at least two of asymmetric synthesis, chemical biology, amino acid chemistry, nucleotide chemistry, sugar/amino sugar chemistry. Expertise in modern organic synthesis and a strong working knowledge of medicinal chemistry is essential.

You will be expected to manage your own academic research and administrative activities. This involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will test hypotheses and analyze scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate.

The post will be based in the Department of Chemistry, Chemistry Research Laboratory, 12 Mansfield Road, Oxford, OX1 3TA and is available as soon as possible.

Application Process

Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your application. In your supporting statement, please explain how you meet each of the selection criteria found in the job description.
