As an employee-owned trust, staff have a meaningful influence on company decisions and benefit from a profit-share bonus twice a year. The company fosters both professional development and a balanced lifestyle, regularly organizing social activities to strengthen team relationships.

Role Overview:
An Ecologist Consultant is needed to join the growing team and contribute to the delivery of outstanding ecological services. The role involves conducting a range of ecological assessments, including BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain) assessments and Phase 1 bat surveys. The successful candidate will also manage client relationships and oversee smaller-scale projects, collaborating closely with landscape and planning teams to ensure seamless project delivery. With experienced ecologists available to provide support and guidance, this role presents an excellent opportunity for professional growth within a well-structured, multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct BNG (Biodiversity Net Gain) assessments and Phase 1 bat surveys
  • Liaise directly with clients, providing updates and maintaining strong relationships
  • Manage small-scale ecological projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget
  • Collaborate closely with the landscape and planning teams on multi-disciplinary projects
  • Prepare and review reports, proposals, and ecological assessments
  • Support less experienced team members in their professional development
  • Assist with ecological site surveys and other fieldwork as required

Qualifications & Skills Needed:

  • Experience in conducting BNG assessments and Phase 1 bat surveys
  • Proven ability to manage smaller projects and liaise effectively with clients
  • Strong understanding of UK ecology and environmental regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Team-oriented, with the ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary environment
  • A relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • Protected species licenses and/or other relevant certifications are desirable

Benefits & Application Information:

As an employee-owned trust, staff have a direct impact on the company’s direction and the opportunity to participate in profit-share bonuses twice a year. This is an excellent opportunity for an ecologist to join a close-knit team and experience a variety of projects, including both housing developments and larger infrastructure projects. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply.
