The Opportunity

Finatal is leading a search for a Head of FP&A to join a high-growth, Private Equity-backed software business with a turnover of £200m and an EBITDA of £30m+. With year-on-year growth of 20% and an aggressive international expansion strategy (both organic and through M&A), the company is on a clear trajectory towards a successful exit within the next two years. The business is highly acquisitive, completing 5-10 acquisitions annually, and is seeking a commercially astute Head of FP&A to build and scale a best-in-class financial planning and analysis function.

The C-Suite & management team are exceptionally strong, able to provide support and mentor mid managers and the next Finance Directors and CFO’s in industry. The Role

Reporting directly to the Private Equity CFO and working closely alongside an experienced PE Finance Director and Group Financial Controller, the Head of FP&A will play a pivotal role in driving financial insight and strategic decision-making across the business. This is a newly created role, requiring a highly capable finance leader to build the FP&A function from the ground up and establish a team (1-3 analysts) in short order.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and lead the FP&A function, developing processes, systems, and reporting structures that align with Private Equity standards.
• Conduct a thorough review of financial performance, cost structures, and key business drivers to enhance visibility and decision-making.
• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to support the company’s ambitious growth strategy and expansion into new international markets.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling, ensuring robust financial planning across the business.
• Work closely with senior leadership, unit heads, and operational teams to provide financial insight and commercial analysis.
• Leverage data analytics to drive performance tracking, profitability analysis, and business case evaluations for new initiatives.
• Support M&A activity by assessing financial performance, integrating acquisitions, and analysing synergies.

The Requirements

• A qualified finance professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with demonstrable FP&A leadership experience.
• Proven track record of building or scaling an FP&A function, ideally within a Private Equity-backed business.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis expertise, with an ability to drive data-led decision-making.
• Experience working with large data sets and financial modelling tools – exposure to data analytics platforms is advantageous.
• A leadership mentality, with experience in team management or function-building.
• SaaS or recurring revenue model experience is highly desirable.
• Ability to partner with key stakeholders across finance, operations, and senior leadership, acting as a bridge between finance and commercial decision-makers.
