We are currently hiring an experienced HGV Technician to join our team in Cardiff. You will be based in the depot on Days maintaining, inspecting and servicing a wide variety of fleet vehicles. This role will give you the opportunity to work on modern HGVs and cutting-edge equipment whilst earning a competitive salary with excellent benefits. You will be working for a prestigious organisation that has multiple sites throughout the UK, a market leader within their field, which should give you fantastic stability and confidence within this role.

Role & Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out preventative maintenance inspections, repairs & servicing to a fleet of 120 vehicles/trailers - DAF & Iveco Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV's) - Ranging from 7.5tonne to 38tonne rigid, arctic and tractor units, also working with 3-axle-trailers and LPG counterbalance Fork Lift Trucks
  2. Carry out service in line with company scheduling to comply with Health & Safety
  3. Inspect, prepare and repair all vehicles to DVSA / VOSA standards
  4. Ensure all inspection, repair job cards and service records are up to date at end of shift
  5. Store and use chemicals as per COSHH Regulations
  6. Use software based diagnostic equipment available to diagnose vehicle faults

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  1. Must have min 3 years experience as a HGV Technician
  2. Knowledge of motor vehicle inspections & service scheduling
  3. Able to work effectively & efficiently to complete DVSA MOT / VOSA requirements
  4. Ideally have knowledge of DAF & Iveco HGV's - dealership experience
  5. Able to work on own unsupervised and as part of a team
  6. Strong mechanical & electrical fault-finding skills
  7. Good time management, problem solving, safety aware, attention to detail skills a must
  8. Ideally have Fork Lift or Counterbalance Licence
