Health And Safety Officer

Essential Site Solutions are looking for a Health & Safety Officer to join a very busy and ever-growing client of ours based in the Doncaster area. The Health & Safety Officer will be reporting to the Chief Engineer and will be working full time from the Doncaster site.

The role for the Health & Safety Officer:

1. You will be the go-to person for all matters regarding health, safety, and environmental issues on the site. You will need to be a solutions provider, not just someone who can highlight.
2. Coordinate site wide activities to ensure Health & Safety compliance.
3. Create/update risk assessments, safe systems of work, and safe working agreements/conditions for contractors.
4. Active safety auditing, reports, and statistical analysis for site.
5. Oversee multiple H&S statutes and schemes relating to food manufacturing/slaughter.
6. Work with associated safety-related documentation for site (e.g., labelling, packaging, customer/supplier questionnaires, web-site content).
7. Drive accountability for H&S downwards.
8. The liaison points for the HSE and the Environment Agency.
9. Manage health and safety for site and develop committee meetings.
10. Accident analysis, investigations, and proactive prevention measures.
11. Liaise with external parties (insurers/auditors/consultants/other stakeholders).
12. Manage the delivery of training as required (or arrange specific external courses).
13. Lead on all matters regarding environmental compliance.
14. Experience of BRC audits and compliance.
15. Other transferable work experience.

Desirable:

1. Experience in a fast moving highly mechanised production environment highly desirable.
2. Experience of the meat processing sector is beneficial.

Qualifications needed for the Health & Safety Officer:

1. NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health or keen to obtain this.
2. Proven track record in health and safety management in a food/FMCG manufacturing environment.
3. Right to work in the UK and should be above 18 Years.

Skills needed for the Health & Safety Officer:

1. Strong numeracy, writing and content delivery.
2. Excellent interpersonal skills/good communicator.
3. Be visible across the site and engage well with all staff.
4. Ability to act professionally and discreetly.
5. Ability to multi-task and manage own workload.
6. Flexible - able to work under pressure and handle multiple projects.
7. Excellent attention to detail.
