Senior Quality Technician

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Quality Technician based at our Basildon site working 38 hours per week on the following shift pattern: 06:00 – 14:00 / 12:00 – 20:00.

Overview of the position

As the Senior Quality Technician you will be responsible for daily operations of the QC laboratory, physical testing of various raw materials, semi-finished and finished product samples manufactured on this site or others. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of results recording systems including SAP, e-IMS and spreadsheets as required.

You will be accountable for the on-going equipment checks and calibration as deemed necessary for existing or new devices, including those used within the production areas and maintenance of relevant records, and resolve any issues with equipment failures.

You will provide guidance to the QC Technician(s) and be responsible for maintaining calibration standards, periodic reporting and be audited by internal or external audits.

Responsibilities of our Senior Quality Technician

Awareness of Company management systems:

• Involvement and engagement with the Kingspan culture
• Reporting accidents, incidents and events
• Cooperating with management on continual improvement programs
• High level of process understanding underpinned by working in compliance with relevant policies, procedures and risk assessments
• Involvement in the development and review of risk assessments
• Involvement with the review and development of SSW’s
• Responsibility for maintaining and improving the Operational Excellence program.

Effective application of Quality requirements:

• Understanding of product quality characteristics and standards
• Effective understanding and application of Final product specifications
• Awareness of and basic understanding of relevant test standards
• Carrying out quality controls based on set test frequencies and production planning, on raw materials, semi-finished and finished products
• Create clear advice on the rejection of materials with quality issues
• Periodically inspect products within the warehouse or production areas as required and record results
• Supporting third party requirements such as quality processing samples and providing information during surveillance audits
• Perform internal audits related to quality and compliance
• Assist with being audited during internal or external audits
• Implementation of new quality standards

High degree of testing skills, knowledge and ability:

• Fully trained and able to operate equipment to the required standards
• Work in accordance with all information, instruction, training and supervision
• Work conscientiously and to high levels of accuracy
• Select test samples to the relevant schedules and condition in-line with relevant procedures / standards
• Accurate recording of results and any required observations
• Perform scheduled cleaning duties and basic maintenance activities including filter changes etc. including housekeeping
• Periodically test the operation of machine safety features

What we are looking for in our Senior Quality Technician

You will have:

• QC laboratory testing experience / high levels of accuracy
• Flexible and willing to be trained in multiple areas in QC
• Be a good team player with a “Can do attitude”
• Confident with a positive personal outlook

Whilst not essential, the following would be of benefit:

• A-level education or equivalent
• Accredited fork lift truck training
• COSHH training and awareness
• Scientific training
• Previous experience working in a factory/ manufacturing process environment
• Analytical skills to process generated quality data
• Able to follow instruction and work production schedules
• Knowledge of SAP
• Experience of working with various IT programs i.e. MS Word, Excel
• Good oral and written communication skills
