Company Overview: Meridian Business Support is currently recruiting for a Registered Care Manager to lead a Children's Residential Home in the Wigan area of Greater Manchester. An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Registered Manager to lead the team at a Residential Children's home which holds a Good rating with OFSTED and has an excellent reputation with the local authorities.
Many of the Children & Young People supported in this home have learning disabilities, Autism, Epilepsy and/or can display some associated behaviours. Many of our children (not all) are non-verbal or have limited communication and will communicate with us through different methods such as picture boards, Smartbox devices and Makaton.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Comprehensive Care Plans: Ensure each young person has a tailored plan that addresses their care, education, social, emotional, cultural, therapeutic, and health needs.
- Develop a great team: Work with the recruitment teams to bring in the right people for your home.
- Foster Consultation: Develop systems to consult young people about the care they receive.
- Allocate Key Workers: Assign a Key Worker to each young person to implement their care plan.
- Maintain High Standards: Establish and monitor high-quality care standards in line with the quality standards and the Home's Statement of Purpose.
- Handle Complaints and Concerns: Take responsibility for addressing any complaints or child protection concerns.
- Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other professionals to promote the welfare of young people.
- Participate in Meetings: Attend and contribute to care planning and review meetings as appropriate.
- Embrace a safe culture: Ensure the children in your service are cared for at the best possible standard.
Essential Requirements and Experience:
- Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people in care.
- Relevant Experience: At least 2 years in a position related to residential care of children, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role within the last 5 years.
- Qualifications: Level 3 in Children's Residential Care is essential. Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare is preferred at point of application.
- Knowledge: Understanding of The Quality Standards, SCCIF, childcare legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Skills: Efficient in planning, organizing, budget control, resource allocation, and team leadership.
- Communication: Confidence in effective spoken and written communication.
- Understanding Trauma: Knowledge of the needs of children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties, including managing challenging behaviour.
- Driving License: Full UK Manual required.
