This will include delivering structural analysis to support a range of needs including assessments in accordance with ASME B31, ASME III including subsections NB, NC, ND and NF, and seismic requirements.

In addition to this, the role requires the engineer to provide support to our supply chain partners in reviewing and advising analysis work performed in the supply chain. Support may also be required to undertake tasks to support the design of pipework systems or undertake 3D Finite Element Analysis but this will be dependent on the demand within the team and the candidate’s experience and expertise.

Key role criteria:

However, experience of piping assessments from other design codes would also be applicable. ASME Section III Class 1 Fatigue design experience.
  2. Proficient user of pipe stress analysis programmes, ideally Autopipe and/or Abaqus, however experience of similar proprietary analysis programmes such as PepS, ADLPipe, CAESAR, PSA5 would be beneficial.
  3. Programme Management, including: definition of project/programme of work, delivery of programme milestones in line with agreed budgets and plans, management of supply chain, management of risk and monitoring and reporting.
  4. Experience of other assessment types or methods such as pressure vessel or dynamic stress analysis would be desirable but not a requirement for the role.
  5. Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience. Familiarity with safety case regimes and justification within an industry with a high regulatory regime would be beneficial.

Additionally we are looking for:

  1. Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  2. Chartered, or working towards, Mechanical Engineer (or equivalent)
  3. Prior experience of undertaking pipe stress assessments
  4. Planning and organising skills to manage programme activities and deliverables.
