We have a unique opportunity for a Senior Geo-Environmental Engineer to join the Central Alliance team. Accountable to the Line Manager, this role provides support to the Geology division through a combination of office and site-based roles.

The role is based out of the Normanton Office but can predominantly be worked from any location within the UK, the role will involve work in the field and travel, with overnight stays in local accommodation.

We are offering the role on a full-time, permanent basis; however, we will consider applications from those seeking less hours.

Accountable to the respective Line / Project Manager, this role provides support to the Geo division through the allocation of tasks/activities and resources, as prioritised and directed by the Senior Engineer or Project Manager.

Accountabilities

Project Management and site supervision of large ground investigation works (may involve working away from home). Project management duties to include costing, measurement of fieldworks, client liaison, meeting attendances, reporting, management of laboratory testing, procurement of materials and management of sub-contractors, dealing with suppliers and preparation of health and safety documentation.

  • Provide training to junior team members regarding logging of soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:2020
  • Adherence to working instructions, as specified by internal and external clients
  • Factual reporting, data processing and data management
  • Attend and pass internal and industry recognised external training courses, such as PTS, NRASWA, CCNSG, towing license, CAT, First Aid and manual handling training
  • Fostering clear communication lines with internal and external parties
  • Supervise, mentor and train graduate and junior staff, as required
  • Travel to attend internal and external meetings, as required
  • Maintaining and developing continued improvements in all aspects of SHEQ

About You

  • Experience in managing ground investigation contracts from start to finish
  • Experience in Soil and Rock Logging, in accordance with BS5930:2020
  • Experience in supervision and management of drillers, engineers and proficient at client liaison
  • A sound understanding of industry best practices in terms of SHEQ and an unwavering commitment to improving ways of working
  • Flexibility to undertake site and office-based works, with varied hours, as required
  • Experience of people management
  • Flexible in your approach to work, being able to manage and adapt to change
  • Self-motivated, solutions focused, organised, with effective time management and a positive attitude
  • Ability to follow instructions, work to deadlines, work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and also work solo, using own initiative
  • Clear, open communication style with an ability to conduct business in a professional and polite manner at all times
  • A manual, valid UK driving license
  • Unrestricted work rights in the United Kingdom
