White label Recruitment are excited to be working with an extremely reputable and market leading manufacturing company. The company manufacture bespoke special purpose machinery and are based close to Blackburn.
Due to a vast number of new projects coming through, the company is looking to hire a Design Engineer for their growing engineering department.
The role of the Design Engineer is as follows:
- Produce complete detail drawings of components from new designs and/or from previous customer repeat/duplicate designs.
- Construct Bills of Material electronically via IFS engineering software.
- Develop detailed design drawings and specifications for mechanical equipment, dies and tools, using AutoCAD 2D and Solidworks 3D software.
- Complete calculations for the sizing and selection of mechanical components.
- Work with manufacturing engineers on Design for Manufacture and Assembly improvements.
- Support the team in research, resolving and servicing technical problems from shop floor, field service engineers or customers.
- Occasional travel to customer sites to support sales and/or field service activities.
- Collaborating with Project engineers and other engineers within the team.
- Maintain filing systems.
Skills and experience expected from the Design Engineer:
- 3 Year Mechanical/Industrial Design with emphasis on Machine Design/Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong 2D/3D solid modeling software skills, Microsoft Office, Excel, Word. Experience with PDM software is a plus.
- Experience working with ERP systems (IFS but training will be provided).
- Strong understanding of engineering concepts, principles, and techniques.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to identify the cause of the issue and come up with an intelligent solution.
