Job description

Vargo is recruiting a Finance Business Partner for a multi-national organisation that is undergoing a large programme to better understand their IT estate. The key focus of the programme is to work with each operational business area, e.g. procurement, HR to better understand their IT requirements and associated costs.


Location: Hybrid working with 1-2 days in Bristol
Contract Type: Interim, Outside IR35
Duration: Initial 12 months, with potential extension


Job Purpose

To provide financial expertise and business partnering support to operational areas across the business on a large-scale IT programme. The successful candidate will play a critical role in reviewing, interpreting, and understanding IT estate costs and requirements, providing financial insights to inform decision-making and optimise resource allocation.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Partner with operational teams to understand their IT estate costs, identifying cost drivers and opportunities for optimisation.
  2. Develop robust financial models and analysis to support IT investment decisions and business cases.
  3. Provide financial insights and recommendations to drive cost-effective IT solutions and improve overall business performance.
  4. Collaborate with IT and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and forecasting.
  5. Support the development of IT budgets and financial plans, monitoring performance against targets.
  6. Identify and mitigate financial risks associated with the IT programme.
  7. Contribute to the development and implementation of financial processes and controls within the IT function.
  8. Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business to foster effective collaboration.

Person Specification

  1. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a strong track record in a similar role.
  2. Proven experience in financial business partnering, ideally within a manufacturing or complex IT environment.
  3. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  4. Strong financial modelling and Excel skills.
  5. Experience in working on large-scale IT programmes or projects preferred.
  6. Ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  9. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Additional Information

  1. The role is initially for a 12-month period, with a strong possibility of extension.
  2. The successful candidate will be based in Bristol, with potential travel to other company locations.
  3. This is an interim role, outside of IR35.
