Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Trainee Legal Cashier to join our Accounts team and work under the supervision of the Finance Manager. You will be fully trained to deal with a variety of accounts and finance functions and there is genuine career progression with an award winning firm.

Purpose

To process the firm’s financial transactions in accordance with the Solicitor’s Accounts Rules.

The role includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Posting financial transactions to update the ledgers
  • Processing CHAPS transactions
  • Reconciling the bank accounts to the firm’s cashbooks
  • Interest calculations
  • Reconciling completion statements to the client ledgers
  • Transfer of funds from client account to office account for payment of our costs
  • Payment of invoices
  • Liaising with the bank to resolve queries
  • Monitoring client ledgers for compliance with the Solicitor’s Accounts Rules.
  • Administration tasks such as filing and photocopying, and any other tasks as required
  • Assisting with the annual Solicitor’s Accounts Rules audit
  • To attend any meetings as required by the firm
  • Working as part of a team to ensure all tasks are completed within the timescales and requirements set out in the Solicitor’s Accounts Rules
  • Handle all confidential information discreetly

Requirements

  • Good educational standard preferred – minimum of 5 A-C grades at GCSE with good numeracy skills
  • You will need to demonstrate an ability to work effectively within a team environment and have good communication skills
  • The ability to use your own initiative and to prioritise
  • You will need to be dependable and flexible to business needs, as overtime may be required occasionally to include working weekends
