Job description

Field Service Technician
Salary package £33,000 - £43,000, 37.5 hour week Monday to Friday, based from BS37 Yate, pension, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, parking, life assurance, permanent role.
An opportunity to join a friendly and established Aerospace and general engineering company for their Yate based operation. The role will be working within a small team who work at customer sites and in the companies workshop on lifting equipment. A full driving licence is required and the role reports to the projects manager. This could suit an ex-forces candidate with a technical / engineering background or Field service engineers.



MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES field Service technician, field service engineer



  • To service, maintain, repair, overhaul, test and re-test Ground Support Equipment including tools, jigs, fixtures, lifting and manipulating equipment to the customer schedule.

  • Workshop based some of the time at the companies facility, and at customer sites around the UK.

  • Field work will likely include every other week spent away on an UK RAF base and the ability to obtain UK Security Clearance is essential.

  • To carry out a visual inspection of the customer equipment and record any damaged or missing parts in conjunction with the customer drawing or the OEM specification.

  • To ensure company quality systems are adhered to always.

  • To perform the services with a high degree of skill, care and diligence and in accordance with good industry & customer(s) practices.

  • To work with managers and supervisors to implement the company's policies and business objectives.

  • To make a positive contribution to maintaining a workplace that is safe, neat and tidy.


Person Specification field Service technician, field service engineer



  • Preferably from an aerospace or water industry background but not essential.

  • Experience of working with lifting and manipulating equipment is preferable.

  • Be willing to work away from home or overseas when required.

  • Effective administrator with good written & oral communication skills and organisational skills.

  • Able to adopt a flexible approach to work and react effectively to a rapidly changing environment.

  • Able to work under own initiative and with a high degree of autonomy, as well as part of a team.

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering on customer needs and against agreed deadlines.

  • Would need to pass a Full DBS and security check, as this position involves working on military bases.


Experience & Qualifications



  • Previous experience of this type of work, including carrying out ' Examination of Lifting Equipment' and proof load testing would be ideal.Ability to interpret assembly drawings in both metric and imperial formats and follow maintenance basic instructions.

  • Experience of using a computerised System to record information is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Office is essential.

  • A full clean driving licence is essential.

  • LOLER qualified is of interest but training can be provided.
