The role is to ensure that Craig yr Hesg processing plant is run safely and efficiently. The Production Supervisor will have full accountability, control & responsibility for all aspects of processing aggregate on site from the primary dump hopper through to the finished product stockpiles.
To enable this, they will manage a team of operators and ensure they operate to the highest possible standards. In addition, once processing ceases the afternoon shift will complete the clean inspect and lubricate activities on site and utilise CheckProof to document the results of the inspections. Ensure all tasks have suitable and sufficient RAMS. Update AOM as appropriate to ensure KPI’s are generated, review these KPI’s on a daily basis with the team and ensure changes to the operation are made to continuously improve the process. 5S principles to be followed.
Lean Six Sigma tools to be used to drive continuous improvement, through RCA and projects focused on process. The position is to be measured through achieving agreed safety, environmental, and other operational performance levels, whilst constantly seeking improvements for sustained business efficiencies.
Key accountabilities
The primary activity of the role primarily involves managing production on site and ensuring that you and the site team follow Heidelberg Materials’ safe systems of works outlined in the IMS.
Health and Safety: Operating to the highest level of health and safety objectives in line with Heidelberg Materials Health and Safety Plan. Create, implement & communicate a plan of continuous improvement on site. Creating and adhering to risk assessments, safe systems of works and permits to work.
Environmental: Operating to the highest level of environmental objectives in line with Hanson’s Environmental Management Plan. Create, implement & communicate a plan of continuous improvement on site.
Contractor Management: Responsible for the induction and supervision of engineering/maintenance contractors as well as the onsite production team.
Compliance: Ensure all statutory legislation and company regulations are adhered to with respect to all operational activities.
KPI Delivery: OEE improvement to be targeted at achieving a sustained 85%+
Participate in Maintenance Meetings to develop a weekly maintenance plan with the Maintenance Supervisor and Unit Manager.
SHE performance, accidents, near hit reporting and safety conversations, IMS compliance.
Operating KPIs, with particular emphasis on availability and plant coefficients and OEE.
Maintain or improve statutory and company compliance levels to acceptable levels.
Internal customer satisfaction levels.
Job requirements
Education/Qualification
NVQ Level 4 in SHE Quarry operations.
IOSH Managing Safely.
Basic understanding and skills of Microsoft Office / IT Literate.
Electrical engineering proficiency is a bonus.
Level 3 MPQC Geotechnical.
Working at Heights – Managing and Task.
Confined Spaces – Managing and Task.
Permit to Work.
