Job description

Astutes Power Team are working with a leading Waste Management organisation who own & operate a number of Energy from Waste Power Stations across the UK. Their facility in Lincoln is capable of processing up to 190,000 tonnes of waste per year, producing circa 11MW of power via a Steam Turbine Generator.

We are looking for an EC&I Technician to join the maintenance team, working days, to provide preventative and reactive maintenance support to all electrical, control system & instrumentation assets. This would suit someone with an electrical bias, specifically with High Voltage experience (11kv) and knowledge of C&I plant.

Responsibilities and Duties:

As the EC&I Technician, you will be responsible for:

  1. Pre-planned and reactive maintenance duties on all electrical, controls and instrumentation assets across the power station.
  2. Fault finding/maintaining electrical systems, instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level & flow) and control systems.
  3. Calibrating instrumentation.
  4. Programming the site's DCS and other PLC systems.
  5. Conducting continuous improvement activities, plant modifications and design work.
  6. Supervising 3rd party contractors.
Professional Qualifications:

We are looking for someone with the following:

  1. A recognised electrical/C&I engineering apprenticeship ideally gained in a heavy process industry.
  2. A level 3 qualification or higher in a relevant E / C&I field.
  3. A solid level of knowledge and understanding of maintenance strategies associated with electrical control systems.
  4. At least 5 years of experience working in the maintenance team in a heavy process environment such as a power station, refinery, chemical plant or paper mill.
Personal Skills:

The EC&I Technician would suit someone with:

  1. Experience on equipment such as motors, drives, actuators, transmitters, PLC’s, temperature / flow / pressure, control systems, HMI’s etc.
  2. Experience in managing sub-contractors would be advantageous.
  3. Able to do manual lifting and working at heights or confined spaces.
  4. The ideal candidate would be competent working on 11kv High Voltage plant including transformers and switchgear.
