Are you a caring, compassionate person with lots to give? This is an exciting opportunity to join us as our new Positive Behaviour Support Champion in Sheffield.

As a Positive Behaviour Support Champion, you’ll support adults living with complex care needs to live their best lives.

We’re looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to use their skills to influence and support the use of positive behaviour support (PBS) within the home.

Although you’ll spend some of your time providing hands-on care, your role will focus on organising and facilitating PBS training, ensuring compliance, and providing support and guidance to colleagues.

About Exemplar Health Care

Exemplar Health Care is one of the country’s leading nursing care providers for adults living with complex needs.

We have 53 care homes across England that support adults living with complex mental health needs, dementia, neuro-disabilities, and physical disabilities.

As well as stable and secure employment opportunities, we offer great benefits and perks, and plenty of opportunities to learn, develop, and progress.

About the role

As a Positive Behaviour Support Champion with Exemplar Health Care, you'll be making every day better for the people we support, whatever that looks like to them.

No two days will ever be the same, but your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  1. Organising and facilitating Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support Level 1 training, while promoting and encouraging the implementation of the Positive Behaviour Support model within your home.
  2. Supporting your home's compliance with Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support training and ensuring paperwork from any training sessions is promptly handled.
  3. Assisting the Registered Nurse and wider care team in the assessment and delivery of individualised and personalised care.
  4. Helping to develop creative problem-solving solutions and reducing the use of restrictive practices.
  5. Demonstrating a good range of communication skills and displaying respect, dignity, and compassion.
  6. Willing to teach and/or support other care colleagues and learners, within the remit of their experience and training.
  7. Supporting people with their personal care.
  8. Assisting people at mealtimes.
  9. Understanding individual health and wellbeing needs.
  10. Encouraging and supporting people to take part in social activities, both in and out of the home.
  11. Promoting choice, dignity, independence, and respect.
  12. Completing and maintaining care records.

About you

You’ll be a natural role model and someone who identifies with our values of fun, integrity, responsiveness, success, and teamwork.

You’re also:

  1. Caring, kind, understanding, and calm.
  2. Able to deal with, and defuse, challenging situations.
  3. Energetic and outgoing, with a positive, can-do attitude.
  4. A great listener and communicator.

To apply for this role, you’ll:

  1. Have knowledge of delivering personalised care and at least 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting.
  2. Be able to use common ICT programmes.
  3. Have a full driving licence and use of a vehicle (desirable).
  4. Be available to work between the hours of 09:00 – 17:00 Monday to Friday for training (an agreed upon shift pattern that’ll enable you to deliver training will be agreed with the home once training is complete).
  5. Be able to travel nationally for the first 10 weeks of your post while you are training with the Behaviour Support Team.

What we offer

  1. Excellent supervision, peer support, learning opportunities, and career prospects.
