Job description

Description:

Experienced and enthusiastic Quality Engineer required to support the quality team in ensuring compliance, undertaking inspections and identifying non-conformance on a range of high-tech solutions.

Our client has been established for almost a quarter of a century and is recognised as a UK market leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke solutions for a diverse range of applications including hazardous environments, medical, robotics, tracking, automotive, mobility, marine and aerospace, employing more than 50 people and supplying specifically to OEM companies. As a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced, proactive and practical Quality Engineer to complement their committed and professional team.

Reporting to the Senior Quality Manager, the successful candidate will join an integral team directly responsible for a range of activities that will include (but not be limited to):

  1. Managing day-to-day Quality activities within the entire Production area including maintaining compliance to BMS Procedures.
  2. Assisting the Senior Quality Manager with both the management and maintenance of Business Management Systems and with Quality investigations and continuous improvement projects as required.
  3. Mentoring and guiding Quality Control and Operations staff in various Quality initiatives.
  4. Undertaking both controlled and random inspections of products on the Shop floor ensuring that all Design requirements are met at all times and that all work instruction stages have been completed correctly as required.
  5. Segregating, identifying and reporting all non-conformances of products.
  6. Working with and championing internal teams as required on non-conformance investigations and continuous improvement projects.
  7. Undertaking first off inspection to the relevant Work instructions and Drawings and updating any necessary records and libraries as required.
  8. Undertaking product release and Out-of-box inspections to customer prints on completed products as required.
  9. Undertaking Goods inwards inspections to component drawings and updating and maintaining necessary records as necessary.
  10. Identifying any H&S or Environmental concerns that may arise and reporting to the Senior Quality Manager or Health and Safety Officer accordingly.

In an environment where new equipment and techniques are introduced on an ongoing basis in order to meet challenging application requirements, the successful candidate will be a self-motivated and proactive individual, able to work autonomously and as part of a team and communicate effectively at all levels. A good knowledge of the MS Suite of applications is essential. Knowledge in the use of hand measurement tools (Vernier Calipers, Micrometers, and digital multi-meters etc.) will prove distinctly advantageous, as will the ability to read and understand Geometric drawings. Additionally, experience of conducting or assisting with Auditing activities and of working in an SME ISO environment will also prove beneficial.
