Position Summary
The Workshop Technician at Viezu Technologies plays a crucial role in executing high-performance vehicle modifications and upgrades. This includes tasks such as engine remapping, brake system enhancements, exhaust installations, turbocharger and supercharger upgrades, intercooler optimisations, welding, fabrication, and general servicing. A significant aspect of this position is conducting rolling road and dynamometer testing to assess and fine-tune vehicle performance. The technician will collaborate within a specialised team, ensuring exceptional workmanship while adhering to safety and compliance standards.

Minimum Qualifications: At least Level III workshop qualifications and 3 years workshop experience.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Upgrades & Modifications

  • Execute engine remapping and ECU tuning to enhance performance.
  • Install and upgrade brake systems, performance exhausts, and high-performance cooling solutions.
  • Fit and integrate supercharger and turbocharger kits, including essential cooling upgrades.
  • Install and optimise aftermarket performance components, such as enhanced air intakes, injectors, and fuel system improvements.
  • Perform custom welding and fabrication as needed for specialised modifications.

Rolling Road & Dynamometer Testing

  • Set up and operate the rolling road and dynamometer for precise power testing and tuning validation.
  • Analyse horsepower, torque, AFR (air-fuel ratio), and other performance metrics.
  • Identify and troubleshoot engine performance issues during testing.
  • Make necessary ECU adjustments and mechanical refinements based on testing outcomes.

Diagnostics & Troubleshooting

  • Utilise advanced diagnostic tools to detect and resolve vehicle performance issues.
  • Conduct fault-finding on mechanical, electrical, and ECU systems.
  • Perform engine health checks and inspections after modifications to ensure reliability and optimal performance.

General Servicing & Maintenance

  • Carry out routine servicing, including oil changes, brake inspections, and suspension tuning.
  • Ensure that all modifications adhere to safety and performance standards.
  • Conduct pre- and post-modification checks to confirm quality and functionality.

Collaboration & Documentation

  • Engage in close collaboration with the Technical Team overseeing Research and Development, Tuning, and Performance Engineering to ensure that modifications are in alignment with project objectives.
  • Maintain comprehensive workshop records, test results, and customer modification logs.
  • Offer technical advice to customers regarding performance enhancements and maintenance best practices.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in high-performance vehicle modifications and tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of engine remapping, ECU tuning, and forced induction systems.
  • Competence with diagnostic tools, rolling road/dynamometer operation, and performance testing software.
  • Experience with brake and suspension upgrades, exhaust system modifications, and cooling system enhancements.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and tuning data.

Desirable:

  • Welding and fabrication skills (MIG/TIG).
  • Experience in motorsport or high-performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with aftermarket tuning brands and software.
  • Relevant automotive qualification (NVQ Level 3, IMI Certification, or equivalent).
