Job Description
We're recruiting for a Private Markets Tax Manager to work within Group Tax dealing with all areas of non-property (e.g. private credit, infrastructure and private equity) tax to support the Head of Asset Management Tax. To act as a tax business partner to the Private Markets business. To collaborate with Property Tax Managers and Head of Private Markets Tax to appropriately cover business demand and tax requirements.
What you'll be doing:
- Providing practical tax support to the non-property (e.g. private credit and infrastructure) teams in the Private Markets business (fund/asset managers, transaction team, legal, product, finance, operations) and be a tax subject matter on private credit and infrastructure matters. Expertise to include UK, Europe and US investments and fund structures.
- Providing end to end tax support and risk management, i.e. from the structuring of fund or holding entities on behalf of internal companies or external investors, to the financing and acquisition of investments to on-going fund tax management, to post acquisition restructuring, and eventual exit of the underlying investments.
- Reviewing and inputting to external advisors' tax advisory reports and manage tax risks within legal agreements.
- Supporting with compliance and reporting in the Private Markets space as required.
- Ensuring that appropriate risk management controls / procedures are in place to manage all tax risks for private credit and infrastructure investments on an ongoing basis.
- Ongoing tax oversight of the range of funds and vehicles (currently UK and Luxembourg). This includes creating/reviewing procedure notes and ensuring compliance with direct tax, withholding tax, VAT, FATCA/CRS, and any relevant local taxes.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- Professional Accounting Qualification (e.g. ACA or ACCA) and/or Taxation qualification (e.g. CTA) with a solid level of post qualification tax experience within a large corporate or practice.
- Good understanding of UK, European and US credit and infrastructure fund structures commonly used.
- Good understanding of tax implications, risks and efficiencies relevant to illiquid fund set ups.
- Practical experience of private credit and infrastructure acquisition, holding and eventual disposal (especially income tax, corporation tax, transaction taxes, withholding tax, VAT).
- Good understanding of the mechanics and accounting of private credit and infrastructure.
- Experience of providing tax advice to fund management teams and be able to explain tax technical issues in a clear and concise way to non-tax experts.
- Builds and develops strong relationships with staff, peers and other contacts within the business.
