The role

As a Senior BI Developer you will support, improve and deliver high quality BI reporting solutions as part of the Central BI Team, via both on-prem and cloud-based solutions. You will actively participate within the Central BI Team to help develop other team members and support the delivery of the team objectives. Performing operation support activities to ensure the Central BI solution meets the business SLA's, including occasional OOH activities.

We currently operate a hybrid working model. This entails 3 days per week collaborating with colleagues in the office, and 2 days working from home.

Key responsibilities

Business Intelligence Team

1. Review, develop and deliver high quality BI reporting solutions (e.g. BI reports, dashboards, financial reports) to an agreed schedule and following the agreed team standards and processes.
2. Conduct data analysis and then design and deliver the subsequent data extraction and database repository.
3. Provide the agreed level of documentation and handover to enable the support and continued development of the BI solutions delivered.
4. Liaise with business personnel to review, refine and document business requirements.
5. Contribute to the management and continuous improvement of BI technical environment to ensure expected service levels are met and known service issues are resolved.
6. Share knowledge and expertise with other team members to enable continued team skills development.
7. Participate in BI and business meetings and take ownership of relevant action points throughout the escalation process to achieve satisfactory results.

Wider BI Business Support

1. Work directly with the Underwriting, Claims, Finance and Central MI business representatives to identify and document business requirements.
2. Provide technical support and guidance to the business teams to enable them to achieve their own reporting goals.
3. Present innovative technical opportunities to the business.

Qualifications, skills and experience

• Experience with Microsoft Azure (Data Factory, Data Lake, Databricks)
• T-SQL Development (MS SQL Server 2005 onwards)
• Python
• Kimball Dimensional Modelling Methodology
• MS Integration Services (SSIS) including development of full DW ETL Solutions
• MS Analysis Services (SSAS) for complex cube reporting solutions
• MS Reporting Services (SSRS) including development of complex reports

Experience of the following systems would also be advantageous:

• Team Foundation Server
• MDS
• JIRA

Experience of the following business areas would be advantageous:

• Insurance sector (Lloyds Syndicate, Underwriting, Broking)

Qualifications:

• Degree educated in relevant field or long-standing technical experience
