Job description

Location: 10 King Street, Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, ST5 1EL

Currie Young are a boutique insolvency practice who punch above their weight when it comes to the quality of work that they do. There are three offices across the Midlands with plans to expand into the North and South West.

You will be joining a flexible and staff-focused employer who values action over presenteeism. You will be given full study support to achieve your ambitions and build your career! You will have direct access to all levels of Staff from Administrators to Directors, all of whom are friendly and willing to support you.

WHAT will I get from working with Currie Young?

  • EARN: £14,000 per year
  • HOURS: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
  • QUALIFICATION: AAT Level 2 takes approximately 16 months.

WHAT will my DAY look like?

You will be supporting the Administrators with their day-to-day tasks by undertaking a variety of data entry, data analysis, Company searches and correspondence. Your daily tasks will include:

  • Data entry and analysis.
  • Telephone conversations with stakeholders.
  • Internal/external meeting preparation.
  • Document sifting/preparation.
  • Bank statement analysis.
  • Accounts maintenance and upkeep.
  • Receipts and payment recording.
  • Minimum of 6 hours per week spent on apprenticeship work and training.

HOW does the Apprenticeship work?

Working towards your Level 2 AAT Qualification, you’ll attend monthly online 1-2-1 meetings (online via Teams every month – NO classroom OR college!) with your Tutor to learn Modules including general business, understanding your organisation, accounting systems & processes, basic accounting & ethical standards. You will be given a minimum of 3 hours per week to complete any apprenticeship work (assignments, research, and projects) and will receive at least another 3 hours of training from your employer. All apprenticeship work and training is completed in the workplace, during working hours.

The Level 2 AAT includes a Mandatory Qualification ‘Certificate in Accounting’ made up of 4 modules/exams including Introduction to Bookkeeping, Principles of Bookkeeping Controls, Principles of Costing & The Business Environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • UK Residency – must have lived in the UK for at least 3 years.
  • Some office/admin experience.
  • Communication, customer care & team working.
  • Analytical, logical, attention to detail & organised.
  • Problem solving, initiative, non-judgmental & patient.
