Professional Apprenticeship - Technical Content Creator

Role Overview

A Technical Content Creator is responsible for production of interesting and engaging digital media content on technical subject matter, which is used to inform and upskill the Technical Function and wider business. Key topics of focus will be Temporary Works, iGMS and Technical Training, amongst others.

They work in the central Systems & Process team within the wider central Technical Quality & Building Safety leadership team, under the guidance of the Senior Engineer (Data & Systems) and Project Engineer (Process) and mentored by Senior Digital Engineers (Symmetry) based in Dartford.

Technical Content Creator is a new role within the Technical Function, which is there to ensure technical excellence, assurance and performance across all projects and opportunities from pre-project, early engagement and work winning through to detailed delivery. This role aligns with our overall strategy to maximise DFMA, Digital Engineering, and Early Engagement.

You will receive the appropriate on and off the job training to allow you to become an experienced Laing O'Rourke Technical Content Creator.

Key Deliverables and Accountabilities of a Content Creator (Technical Media)

  • Work closely with the Senior/Project Engineers in the Systems & Process team, and wider Technical Function subject matter experts, to produce informative and engaging digital audio and visual content which can be used across a variety of media, working in line with development plans and budgets.
  • Assist in the development of high-quality technical training content covering bitesize eLearning modules and visual media to support delivery of in-person training, which maximises audience engagement.
  • Help ensure company Technical procedures and systems are followed through raising awareness of them through targeted alternative media content.
  • Promote important subject matter, technical alerts and events through expert use of company social media platforms - researching and developing communications plans for maximum impact and engagement.
  • Highly computer literate (MS Office including MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint, PDF Editors).
  • Manage and maintain content libraries using business systems and platforms.

Location

Dartford - BP2 (to co-locate with existing team)

Travel within the UK and some overnight stays will be required to facilitate content creation opportunities and delivery requirements.

Apprenticeship Provider

Laing O'Rourke collaborate with trusted and approved training providers (Universities) for our apprenticeship delivery. Successful candidates will be required to make an application to our preferred provider for the apprenticeship route you have chosen.

During the programme you will work across a range of projects, which will offer the breadth and variety to support your occupational competency and will contribute towards the achievement of your apprenticeship and professional accreditation.

Entry requirements

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

  • You must be eligible to work in the UK with a valid work permit
  • To qualify for this programme, you will need to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs - preferably grades 4+ including Maths and English
