A great opportunity exists for an Electrical Engineer with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience to join our expert project delivery team. This is a permanent position, available immediately and will see you working with a group of enthusiastic and capable professionals.
The position is preferably Melbourne based but is open across all three of our East coast offices (Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne).
The role predominately focuses on the engineering and design of electrical, instrumentation and control systems for a variety of renewable energy developments (EV installations, hydrogen), fuels, aviation, bitumen and lubricant storage facilities, and other general retail and industrial projects such as multi-retail centres, industrial subdivisions, and logistics / warehousing.

The Role:
This role will see you involved in a variety of projects as part of our multi-discipline design and engineering team. Reporting to the Director, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Productive, efficient and autonomous preparation and completion of engineering and design packages for electrical, instrumentation and control systems including document and quality control
- Ensuring electrical, instrumentation and control system engineering and design packages comply with local regulations and standards, Client standards and specifications, and Hazardous Area requirements
- Contribute to the preparation of fee proposals
- Preparation, review and / or approval of project specifications and documentation
- Contribute to the preparation of P&ID’s, Design Basis and Functional Descriptions
- Preparation, review and / or approval of single line diagrams, schematics and termination diagrams, control system block diagrams, and MCC / SWB, FJB and Control Panel GA’s and specifications
- Preparation, review and / or approval of maximum demand calculations, cable sizing calculations, cable schedules, equipment and instrumentation specifications and datasheets
- Preparation, review and / or approval of site layouts reflecting electrical equipment locations, cable routing, earthing and lightning protection requirements, lighting requirements etc.
- Preparation, review and / or approval of typical electrical installation details including pits, underground conduits and trenching, supporting arrangements etc.
- Attendance at design reviews and HAZOPs
- Liaising with product suppliers to obtain equipment specifications and advice
- Liaising with power and telecommunication authorities, particularly with applications for supply and / or supply upgrades
- Undertaking site inspections and audits including the preparation of reports
- Supporting internal project managers with the preparation of electrical, instrumentation and control scope of works and other project documentation
- Reporting project status to internal project managers
Skills & Experience (essential):
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience
- Have prior engineering and design consultancy and / or direct client liaison experience
- Be proficient in the preparation, review and / or approval of electrical, instrumentation and control system design and engineering packages including document and quality control
- Be competent in the preparation of project specifications and documentation
- Have the ability to interpret and / or contribute to the preparation of P&ID’s, Design Basis and Functional Descriptions
- Have prior exposure to control systems and automation, including PLC’s, DCS and SCADA systems
- Have prior exposure to Hazardous Areas and Dangerous Goods
- Have prior exposure to light spill analyses and lighting design
- Have experience developing projects from concept design through to construction packages
- Have experience conducting site inspections and audits and the preparation of reports
- Have experience working within multi-discipline teams to deliver projects on time, on cost and meeting quality requirements
- Have the ability to effectively and efficiently liaise with internal multi-discipline engineering and design teams to ensure integrated multi-discipline designs
- Have the ability to multi-task and deliver multiple projects concurrently
- Be able to work autonomously and be highly productive
- Have excellent communication skills in English and a high level of technical writing ability
Skills & Experience (ideal but not essential):
- Have Hazardous Area and / or Dangerous Goods certifications
- Have experience with electrical engineering and design software packages
- Have experience in the use of Autodesk AutoCAD and Plant 3D platforms
- Have previously liaised with power and telecommunication authorities, suppliers and contractors
- Have experience in Electrical Vehicle charger design
