Children's Support Worker

We are interested in hearing from Children's Support and Personal Care Workers who want to join our team and assist with day-to-day support for young service users within Hertfordshire County Council Residential and Supported Living Units.

The duties and responsibilities

1. Assisting with washing and dressing
2. Preparing their food and helping them eat
3. Doing household tasks, such as shopping, tidying, cleaning and laundry
4. Getting to know the children, their needs and interests
5. Monitoring their health and weight and recording any concerns
6. Following care plans, routines, guidelines, risk assessments, and Behaviour Management Plans
7. Making sure they take prescribed medications
8. Administering medication as required (with training)
9. Supporting their mental and physical wellbeing through different activities
10. Assisting clients with physical therapy exercises
11. Working with other social care and health care professionals
12. Mobility support: moving and handling, hoisting
13. Acting quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Child Care Worker skills and qualifications

1. Sensitivity to and understanding of people
2. Ability to do household chores and cook nutritious meals
3. The ability to work with different types of people
4. Patience and the ability to remain calm during stressful situations
5. The ability to work well under pressure
6. Attention to detail
7. Excellent customer service skills

You must have access to transport to be able to get to the various sites throughout Hertfordshire, including Hemel, Watford, St Albans, Abbots Langley, Bushey, Bishop Stortford, Rickmansworth, Welwyn Garden City, Hoddesdon, Potters Bar, Letchworth and Stevenage.
