Currently, we are seeking a Band 7 Counselling Psychologist to join a Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) in Kent.

Job Description: We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Band 7 Counselling Psychologist to join our dynamic Community Mental Health Team in Kent. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing high-quality psychological interventions and support to individuals with complex mental health needs within the community setting. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic, person-centered care and promote recovery and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans based on the assessment findings and evidence-based practice.
  2. Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including individual and group therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches, tailored to meet the needs of service users.
  3. Work collaboratively with service users, their families, and carers to develop therapeutic relationships and empower them in their recovery journey.
  4. Offer consultation, advice, and support to other members of the CMHT, including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists, to ensure integrated and coordinated care.
  5. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and clinical supervision sessions to review progress, share insights, and contribute to care planning and decision-making.
  6. Conduct risk assessments and develop risk management plans in collaboration with service users and the wider team to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals in crisis.
  7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records and documentation in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  1. Doctoral-level qualification in Counselling Psychology from a recognized training program accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS).
  2. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist, with chartered status with the BPS as a Counselling Psychologist.
  3. Substantial post-qualification experience working as a Counselling Psychologist in mental health settings, preferably within a community or CMHT setting.
  4. Demonstrated expertise in delivering a range of evidence-based psychological interventions and therapies for individuals with complex mental health needs.
  5. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships and work collaboratively with service users, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  6. Commitment to continuous professional development and adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards of practice.
  7. Eligibility to work in the UK without sponsorship.
