The Safety Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations, standards, and best practices are adhered to across all project sites and Parkhill locations. This role involves the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety policies to create a secure work environment and minimize risks. The Safety Specialist will work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to maintain compliance with industry regulations and improve overall safety performance. This is a full-time, exempt position paid on a salary basis.
Responsibilities
Collaborates with internal departments, contractors, and external agencies to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Owns, updates, and ensures compliance with the Parkhill Safety Manual.
Monitors and assesses the performance and effectiveness of critical systems, identifying areas for improvement and proposing corrective actions.
Ensures compliance with construction safety regulations, including hazardous materials handling, fall protection, machinery safety, PPE styles, and monitoring equipment.
Develops emergency response plans and procedures for each office.
Provides safety training and educational programs to employees, ensuring their understanding of safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
Stays up to date with industry developments, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to safety to ensure Parkhill remains current and aligned with industry best practices.
Serves as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries, incident reporting, drug and alcohol testing, and communication with regulatory agencies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
Experience with above and below ground construction sites.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction safety or safety management within architecture or civil engineering sectors.
In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, construction safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to assess complex safety situations and recommend effective solutions.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to travel to Parkhill offices and project sites as needed.
