What is a Burson person

You demonstrate strong leadership skills and are independently responsible for day-to-day workflow and resources for your projects. You are proactive, permanently on the front foot communicating and ensuring the pipeline of work goes through the department seamlessly. You champion our Studio processes and contribute ideas for improvements. You are respected and continuously inspire your team through positive example.

You'll build lasting and strong relationships with both internal sector teams and external clients, and you are accountable for making sure everyone knows what needs doing and how long they have to do it - your time management and communication skills are impeccable. You work with the Sector teams to forecast work coming into the Studio and closely with the Resources team to ensure requirements are processed in a timely manner.

Client:

  • Act as an integral part of the creative process; briefing, ideation and development.
  • A trusted collaborator who closely works with our team of creatives and designers to help shape and deliver award-winning work.
  • You collaborate within flexible working groups, both within the Studio and Burson, which will also give you the opportunity to work across a broad range of briefs from reports to printed books, presentation templates to brand guidelines, infographics to podcasts.
  • Strong client management skills – able to build relationships, negotiate budgets and receive both good and bad feedback.
  • Lead the workflow of multiple projects from initial estimation to final delivery through the department and with 3rd parties, always making sure that the approval process is adhered to.
  • Demonstrate strong open communication with project teams and ensure key stakeholders are kept up to date on deadlines and the overall project status.
  • Continually assess the risks of your projects, offering solutions, working to resolve, and flagging any issues.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly team, status and resource meetings.
  • Strong knowledge of client industries, creative trends and competitors.
  • Understand our creative process and how it drives the Studio to deliver quality thinking and content.
  • Demonstrate powerful and convincing presentation and writing skills.
  • Always be on the hunt for inspiration beyond the immediate task in hand. Where do you get your references from? Consult others and continue to educate yourself on emerging trends and skills.
  • Have a point of view on your work.
  • Determine how to present concepts visually.

Commercial:

  • Run multiple projects and their deliverables from initial estimation to final delivery through the department and with 3rd parties, always making sure that the approval process is adhered to.
  • Set up all creative check-ins and approvals and ensure the status of your projects and the finances are reported regularly.
  • Scope projects of all sizes, proposal writing, pitch work and ensure that deliverables align with the project scope, plan, budget, goals, and objectives.
  • Manage all financial aspects of projects including budget management, negotiation, and resource requirements.
  • Build and manage 3rd party supplier relationships to ensure they deliver quality on budget and on time.
  • Stay on top of your commercial admin and follow internal processes.
  • Phase your project fee spend across the timeline and monitor to ensure over-burn is kept to a minimum and scope creep is flagged early.
  • Report weekly on the financial status of live and pipeline projects; reconciling all hours used to date and ensuring accurate fees are billed monthly.
  • Effectively manage your resource requests so that they align with your project scopes and are properly phased to allow you to deliver within budget.
  • Throughout projects, continually assess the risks, offer solutions, and work to resolve and flag issues.
  • Be aware of Burson’s offer, additional services, and global network.
