Your New Job

The M&A Infrastructure Integration Engineer is a key technical engineer responsible for managing the end-to-end IT integration of acquired businesses into Ipsum Utilities. This role focuses primarily on conducting technical due diligence, executing infrastructure migrations, and ensuring a smooth IT transition during acquisitions. The role is instrumental in supporting Ipsum’s ambitious growth strategy of acquiring 3–5 businesses annually, ensuring seamless technology consolidation while maintaining operational continuity.

This position will be heavily involved in pre-acquisition assessments, infrastructure harmonisation, system migrations, and Cyber Security alignment of newly acquired entities. While supporting the broader infrastructure team when needed, the primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that every acquisition is successfully integrated into Ipsum’s IT ecosystem with minimal business disruption.

  • Lead technical due diligence during the M&A process, evaluating IT infrastructure, Cyber Security posture, and system compatibility of target companies.
  • Develop and execute integration plans, ensuring alignment with Ipsum’s IT strategy, security standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Migrate and consolidate IT infrastructure, including network environments, servers, storage, and cloud platforms.
  • Standardise and transition Microsoft architecture, including Active Directory, O365, SharePoint, and Exchange, ensuring acquired businesses are swiftly onboarded into Ipsum’s existing IT landscape.
  • Ensure cybersecurity compliance by aligning newly acquired systems with Ipsum’s security policies, threat detection, and endpoint protection measures.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison between the acquisition team and IT leadership, providing expertise on infrastructure scalability and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT teams to develop and execute technology transition strategies that align with Ipsum’s operational goals.
  • Support integration of bespoke business applications, ensuring system interoperability across acquired entities and Ipsum’s core platforms.
  • Implement robust IT service continuity plans, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations during and after acquisitions.
  • Support the Infrastructure & Security Manager and broader IT team on high-priority projects where necessary.
  • Provide expert-level 3rd line support for infrastructure escalations tied to M&A activities.
  • Work closely with the Infrastructure Manager, Group IT Director, PMO Director/PMO Team, Infrastructure and Cyber Security Engineers to optimise IT performance post-acquisition.
  • When not involved in M&A activities and alongside providing project support unrelated to M&A, provide second and third-line infrastructure support to the wider business.
  • Stay ahead of emerging IT trends in M&A, ensuring Ipsum employs industry best practices for integrating acquired companies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an IT/related subject would be beneficial.
  • ITIL Foundation or a willingness to complete this is required.
  • Proactive problem solver who thrives in fast-paced, acquisition-driven environments.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to independently lead IT integrations while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in IT security frameworks and compliance requirements post-acquisition.
