Job summary

The post holder will oversee the delivery of the Core Psychiatry training Programme in NHS England North West.

The post holder will support the Head of School in the Strategic Development of the North West School of Psychiatry and contribute to supporting the School Operational Programme.

The post holder will be a member of the School Board and Core Psychiatry Speciality Training committee.

Please note this is a 3 year secondment with potential to extend to a maximum of three years, subject to mutual agreement.

  • Work in collaboration with Head of School of Psychiatry to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy which supports the recruitment and retention of Core Psychiatry Trainees and to promote health and well-being

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Consultant in Core Psychiatry on the Specialist Register
  • Member / Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
  • Consultant currently working in the NHS in the North West of England
Desirable

  • Education Qualification such as Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters in Medical Education
Experience

Essential

  • Experience of organising / delivering education programmes / courses and working with doctors in an educational context
  • Considerable experience of working with doctors in an educational context
  • Experience as an educational supervisor especially for Psychiatric trainees
  • Previous or current appointment as a Leader in Healthcare Education
  • Understanding of the workforce transformation agenda
  • Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education
  • Applicants who are doctors require a Licence to Practise
Desirable

  • Awareness of funding streams for education or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education
  • Clinical Manager Experience
  • Experience in recruitment
