Field Service Engineer
Location: Bury St Edmunds
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum

We are looking for a dedicated and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our fantastic client's team in Bury St Edmunds. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of machinery.

This position requires experience in both electrical and mechanical engineering, along with the ability to engage professionally with colleagues, clients, and management at all levels.

This role is primarily based at the Bury St. Edmunds site, with occasional travel to customer locations for machinery installation and technical support as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Install machinery to a high standard, ensuring comprehensive reporting and follow-up work while managing the process from point of sale to invoice completion.
  2. Conduct onsite training, developing training materials and plans to maintain high standards (full machinery training will be provided).
  3. Act as the direct point of contact for key customers, overseeing machine performance, staff training, and support needs.
  4. Provide technical phone support to customers, label suppliers, and distributors.
  5. Plan and coordinate work with customers and distributors, updating the internal diary system accordingly.
  6. Participate in the on-call rota for emergency customer support, including after-hours phone assistance (one weekend out of every five).
  7. Assist in machine rebuilding and new machine manufacturing at the Bury St Edmunds facility.
  8. Conduct machine trials, product supervision, and development.
  9. Provide supervisory and technical support to colleagues, ensuring clear communication across all levels.

Requirements:
  1. A degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or strong hands-on experience in both fields.
  2. Experience in the installation, servicing, and maintenance of machinery is highly advantageous.
  3. A combination of office-based and field-based experience, with strong customer-facing skills.
  4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  5. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  6. Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
  7. Willingness to travel for customer visits and trade shows as required.
  8. Flexibility to participate in the on-call rota for emergency support.
