Job description

A privately owned business in the construction sector seeks a qualified accountant to join as FC.

Your new company

Our client is a well established, privately owned group of companies in the construction sector.


Your new role

Reporting to the MD and leading a small team, you will oversee the financial health and operations of the company, including delivering accurate financial reports, managing cash flow, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and optimising financial processes and systems.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Delivering accurate financial reports to support decision-making and ensure financial stability.
  2. Maintaining and monitoring cash flow.
  3. Preparing financial statements and statutory returns.
  4. Managing budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across the Group.
  5. Leading in maintaining compliance with UK regulations, tax laws and internal controls.
  6. Overseeing audits, statutory filings, and risk management.
  7. Seeking to streamline and integrate financial systems.
  8. Collaborating with IT to improve efficiency and ensure accurate operational data tracking.
  9. Fostering collaboration, performance, and continuity of planning within your team and the business.

This role will work closely with other departments to support strategic objectives.


What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience in financial management, including:

  1. Preparing financial reports and maintaining internal controls.
  2. Managing budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  3. Strong team leadership and training.

You will have implemented financial systems and processes, coordinated internal and external audits, and have a proven ability to identify financial risks and implement measures to mitigate them. Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., Sage) and advanced Excel skills are required, as well as knowledge of UK financial regulations and reporting standards.
