Job description

Apprentice Nursery Practitioner

Not only will the successful candidate achieve their apprenticeship in Early Years, we will also provide training in; Makaton, down syndrome awareness, paediatric first aid and safeguarding as well as other relevant training around EYFS practice. Join our Early Years Apprenticeship for hands-on experience in nurturing young minds.

What you'll do at work:

As an Apprentice Nursery Practitioner, your day revolves around the vibrant and enriching world of young children's development, in our nursery provision where every moment presents an opportunity for growth and discovery. Your role encompasses a diverse array of responsibilities aimed at fostering holistic development and providing a nurturing environment for children to thrive. This position will predominantly be supporting a child on a 1:1 basis, ensuring that they have equal access to the learning environment as well as supporting their care needs. The child has a diagnosis of Downs Syndrome and is in the early stages of learning to walk. The child currently communicates using Makaton (training will be provided).

  • Implementing and adapting engaging activities tailored to the child's interests and developmental needs, integrating principles from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Facilitating play-based learning to promote social, emotional, and cognitive growth, fostering curiosity and exploration in line with best practices.
  • Maintaining a safe and stimulating environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety guidelines while fostering a nurturing atmosphere for children's growth and development.
  • Building positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment conducive to learning and collaboration.
  • Observing and assessing the child's progress to inform future planning and provide personalised support, contributing to their holistic development and well-being.
  • Participating in team meetings and professional development sessions to enhance skills and knowledge, staying updated on industry best practices and pedagogical approaches.
  • Working as part of a team to support ALL pupils within the EYFS setting.
