Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a band 6 CPN to join the Central Early Intervention In Psychosis Team Based at Chorlton House. We work with individuals between the age of 14-65 years with a First Episode Psychosis.

We are a very welcoming, dedicated and experienced team. We offer a range of psychological therapies/ psychosocial interventions and have a comprehensive training Programme across the directorate. We have an in-house continuous professional development training provided by The Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologist and external providers on a weekly basis. We work closely with service users and families, offering both therapy and family interventions. We value service user involvement and encourage participation in service development.

Main duties of the job

We require a highly motivated and committed individual with a genuine passion for providing evidence-based recovery interventions to people experiencing a first episode Psychosis.

The Post Holder will aim to reduce the impact of psychosis and ensure that the individual remains actively involved in life with a focus on living an ordinary life and to achieve personal recovery.

Job responsibilities

Under line management and clinical supervision from within the Early Intervention Team, the post holder will maintain and co-ordinate timely and appropriate interventions and assessment for a caseload of service users living in the community within the framework of CPA and in line with the relevant clinical pathways i.e. as outlined within the EIT operational procedure.

This includes respecting individuality, values, culture and religious diversity of clients and colleagues and thus contributing to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.

Person Specification

Qualifications/ Education Essential

  • Core professional Qualification i.e nursing, social work, occupational therapy
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • nurse registrants: completion of preceptorship

Desirable

  • Nurse Mentorship/Practice Educator

Experience Essential

  • The Post Holder should have post registration clinical experience.
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full understanding of The Care Programme Approach and Mental Health Act 1983, including the needs and rights of carers.
  • Good knowledge and application of risk management
  • Good knowledge and application of Adult Safeguarding Procedures
  • Proven knowledge of looking after social and health care needs of adults suffering organic and functional mental illness.

Desirable

  • Ability to conduct first line assessments for individuals newly referred into the service, utilising a biopsychosocial framework
  • Experience of working with children and adolescents with a mental illness
  • Experience of working with individuals with Psychosis
  • knowledge and application of The Mental Capacity Act
