The director ensures that all Early Access Programs (EAPs) are executed seamlessly and align with their specific designs. With a commitment to operational excellence, this role guarantees the efficient and effective delivery of life-saving products to patients worldwide.

Strategy & Development for Early Access Programs (EAP)

  • Collaborate as a core member of the EAP management team, driving service model advancements, automation projects, and continuous operational improvements.
  • Spearhead the growth of global EAP capabilities by identifying best practices, enhancing process efficiency, and forging strategic partnerships. Evaluate resource requirements in line with enrolment growth and order volume trends.
  • Responsibility for delivery of activities aligned to strategic imperatives as per the strategic plan.
  • Partner with business development, regulatory affairs, and supply chain teams to align operational capacities with program needs, both new and ongoing.
  • Provide expert analysis of emerging trends, access hurdles, and competitive dynamics to inform business development strategies.

Operational Leadership in EAP Delivery

  • Oversee the EAP Program Coordinator Teams, ensuring streamlined program execution, effective resource management, and adherence to timelines. Define team training, performance tracking, and professional development.
  • Directly manage EAP Program Coordinator team leaders (currently two, with potential growth).
  • Foster a customer-centric approach, equipping coordinators with training to ensure proactive, supportive interactions with healthcare professionals (HCPs), regulatory authorities, and internal teams.
  • Maintain oversight across the service lifecycle to meet agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Address escalations, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Lead IT system integration for EAP operations, including order processing, reporting, and automation. Collaborate closely with IT, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure seamless data exchange across platforms like ERP and Uniphi.

Management of the Wholesale Distribution Network

  • Optimize and manage the wholesaler network to enable efficient program delivery while adhering to country-specific regulations. Build strategic partnerships to enhance coverage and service quality.
  • Monitor partner costs, pricing models, and contract terms to maintain operational efficiency and ensure budgetary alignment for clients.
  • Establish performance metrics with regular reporting on wholesaler service levels, on-time delivery, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure wholesale distribution agreements comply with all regulatory standards and internal policies. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to evaluate subcontracting needs.

Candidate requirements:

  • More than 10 years’ experience within the field of Pharma, Biotech or CRO.
  • More than 5 years’ experience in an external or client facing project management role.
  • Will have a good working knowledge of global pharmaceutical and supply chain regulations including but not limited to cGDP, cGMP.
  • Experienced line manager capable of leading and developing teams across geographies.
  • Experienced in system integration and data management to allow business reporting and oversight.
  • Experienced in client or external interactions and confident in leading conversations at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills required with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent in life sciences discipline.
  • Prior experience of working on global Expanded Access Programs (e.g., Early Access, Compassionate Use, Named Patient Supply).
  • Experience of regulations governing clinical trials and patient data collection.
