The Role
As a Semi-Senior/Senior Accountant, you will take on varied responsibilities for a diverse portfolio of clients. Your duties will include:
- Preparing statutory accounts, VAT returns, payroll, corporation tax, and personal tax returns.
- Reviewing simple tax returns and ensuring year-end files are complete with backup schedules supporting balance sheet figures.
- Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Supervising, managing, motivating, and training junior staff.
- Ensuring consistent quality in all work delivered to clients.
- Reviewing VAT returns and understanding VAT requirements, concepts, and calculations.
- Handling ad hoc advisory services and tasks as required.
- Following existing systems, updating them, and developing new ones as appropriate.
- Ensuring budgets are met.
About YouWe are seeking a candidate who combines technical expertise with a proactive and collaborative approach. The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualifications and Experience:
- ACA or ACCA recently or nearly qualified.
- Excellent knowledge of Outlook/Microsoft packages.
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and SUMIFS proficiency.
- Strong IT literacy and experience working with various accounting software packages, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems.
- Experience in preparing statutory accounts, VAT returns, payroll, and personal, partnership, and corporation tax returns.
- Previous experience working in public practice.
- Skills and Attributes:
- Sound analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear and concise emails and deliver well-presented working papers.
