Job description

Exciting opportunities are available for qualified and experienced Psychologists to join the High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ) multidisciplinary Performance Support team. This role is embedded within the HPSNZ Athlete Performance Support team and involves working closely with National Sporting Organizations (NSOs).

The Sport Psychologist will lead athlete wellbeing and performance initiatives, providing technical leadership and a range of psychological services, including policy and program development, system-wide assessment, prevention efforts, consultation, individual and group interventions, and crisis triage.

The position will also include co-managing Sport Psychology Contractors who contribute to health and performance services. Successful candidates will become part of a dedicated, integrated multidisciplinary team, committed to a holistic approach to health, wellbeing, and performance to help athletes achieve their goals in sport and life.

Requirements:
  • Registered psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologist Board.
  • Experience in the following relevant areas, including:
    • At least 3+ years of providing psychological services in settings such as college health, community mental health, outpatient/inpatient hospitals, or private practice.
    • Ideally, 3+ years of experience delivering psychological services within club/community or elite sports contexts (e.g., collegiate, professional, or Olympic sports).

This is a full-time permanent role, but we are open to discussing other arrangements.
